Sunday October the 21st was a day full of celebrations around here it was my son Ben's 29th birthday and my nephew Chase's 6th birthday. We started of the day by going to a homecoming celebration for the 75th anniversary of our Church building. There were many past members there that came back for the festivities and fellowship. After we went to church it was on to the birthday party full of presents, skating ,and cake( what more would a 6 year old want). Then it was back home to make a phone call to my son who is in the Navy stationed in California to wish him a happy birthday and to make sure the wildfires are no where around him.Hope every one is doing well and enjoying the beautiful fall weather. One of my weaknesses is collecting dishes and the other is not finishing projects that I start.I have been trying to put together a set of Franciscan dishes call Mesa. This week I received a Five piece place setting and a sugar and creamer I purchased off of EbayI have been collecting Franciscan dishes for a while. The other pattern that I have is the apple pattern it is one of the more popular patterns that Franciscan carried. The arrival of new dishes in the mail is always exciting to me I just love looking and putting sets of dishes together.
This brings me to the subject of a old Friend. She is This sweet little girl having a tea party with her dolls.she is the oldest unfinished project that I have.I think I started her when my daughter was in elementary school and now she is a elementary school teacher.I know this is ridiculous ,but I have set a goal to finish all of my UFO's and I thought I would start with the first. When I was looking around at some of the favorite bloggs I visited Juls at A Fairy Princess Dreams and Stitches, and I saw that she had completed this piece years ago probably when I started this one,and she said this was a project she was most proud of.This made me think how proud I would be if I finished this myself. So I have set a goal to finish it by the end of the year.I will be posting my progress.
(This is to my daughter Twila, who i know will be reading this and laughing,Yes I have that poor little girl out working on her again...)
I have also posted a picture of what the finished project looks like .I any one has a older UFO than this I would like to hear your story.
Hope every one is well, until next time .Brenda

My goldfish are enjoying some extended summer weather, but at least I can make it look like fall on the inside.
We have just installed hardwood floors in part of our house. It took us about six weeks as we did it only on our days off .My husband built and installed the bookcases this past week.He did a wonderful job I am very proud of him. There is some more decorating we want to do and I am going to make off white slipcovers for the couch. My theory is with a white dog you definitely need a nearly white couch.
Thanks for your prayers my daughter surgery went well and every thing is going to be fine.
Hope everyone is well,Have a nice day.

This one is next just some binding for the edge and
it will be finished.I have made a end of year resolution
and I am trying to clean up some of my unfinished projects
that have got cast away to the side. This reindeer Quilt is one of my
favorites. It reminds me of the Old Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer
Christmas special with Burl Ives as the Snowman.
On a more serious note say a prayer for my daughter as she is having surgery tomorrow.

My favorite book when I Was a child was The Little Engine That Could. My mother read it to me at bedtime. It is a story of a train load of toys and food for the children over the mountain that has the misfortune of their engine breaking down and there quest to find a replacement. After being turned down by some very fine and powerful engines.and one very old and rusty engine, along comes the little blue engine, that has never been over the mountain. When they ask she says I think I can,I think I can.Once on the other side of the mountain she say I knew I could,I knew I could!!
I keep a copy of this book on my coffee table to remind me that the power of though and your frame of mind is everything and good things come to those that believe.
